My Quote

"Maybe our mistakes are what makes our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course we wouldn't fall in love, or be who we are. After all seasons change. So do cities. People come in our lives and people go. But it's comforting...the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're lucky, always will be."-Miranda Brogdon

27 weeks!! 3rd Trimester!!! 91 days to go!!!!!

Dear Reader,

This week, I weigh almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and am about 14 1/2 inches long with my legs extended. I'm sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing my eyes, and perhaps even sucking my fingers. With more brain tissue developing, my brain is very active now. While my lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if I were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements mommy may be feeling to a case of my baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother me, so mommy should just relax and enjoy the tickle.

26 weeks!!!

Dear Reader,

The network of nerves in my ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. I may now be able to hear both mommies voice and daddies as they chat with each other. I'm inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of my lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when I'm born and takes that first gulp of air. And I'm continuing to put on baby fat. I now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. Also my testicles are beginning to descend into my tiny scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.

My day, so far...

Hey guys, I'm going to try to start blogging daily but with my days being pretty busy I may not get to it on some days. This morning I woke up to my little man doing backflips or at least thats what it felt like and then he stopped and started pushing out on my stomach, I guess he had to get his daily stretch in. Now I'm just sitting here watching Jake and Andrew play games like they do every week, one on my 42" and the other on the 28". So I just sit here bored usually, but right now I'm trying to decide on how I want to design my cloth diapers that I want to make. I guess I'm going to go hop to it for a little bit and maybe even take a nap. Be back to blog later, hope everyone has a great day!!!

Cloth diaper bandwagon!!

As most of you ladies know, I am going to use cloth diapers with my baby once he gets here. But lately I've started looking into sewing my own diapers and potentially selling them so that I can contribute to my little family and bring in some money to help us out with bills. I'm slowly getting everything together to see what I can do especially since money is a little tight nowadays so I'm looking at old fabrics and old clothing thats laying around to see where I can really start. Feel free to track me along my journey with creating my own cloth diaps!!

To have or not to have

Ok so I've ran into kind of a dilemma. While talking to my mother about my birth plan I stated that I only wanted my husband, Jacob, in the room while I was in labor and nobody else. Well my mother had a HUGE fit stating that she was going to be in the room with me the ENTIRE time of labor and I told her no that it was our moment not hers that she could come in the room once the baby was born. That infuriated her and she said she just wouldn't come and that once the baby was born that Jacob could call her and let her know. In one way I don't want my mother to be upset but it really is OUR moment not hers. I'm not really sure what I should do, should I stay my ground and say that I ONLY want my husband with me or should I cave into her wants and let her come back??

25 weeks!!!

Dear Reader,

Head to heels, I now measure about 13 1/2 inches. My weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but I'm beginning to exchange my long, lean look for some baby fat. As I do, MY wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and i'll start to look more and more like a newborn. i'M also growing more hair — and if my mommy and daddy could see it, they'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

24 weeks!!!

Dear Reader,

I'm growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts me at just over a pound. Since I'm almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), I cut a pretty lean figure at this point, but my body is filling out proportionally and I'll soon start to plump up. My brain is also growing quickly now, and my taste buds are continuing to develop. My lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help my air sacs inflate once I hits the outside world. My skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon. Between now and the 28th week I'll be at my most mobile time but after that I won't have much room to move around so mommy will just have to wait patiently over the next few weeks!!
